The idea; arising during the different telematic meetings of the City Council with this segment during the state of alarm; it has the participation and involvement of the La Quinta golf courses; Santa Clara; Marbella Golf; Cabopino; Santa María and Los Naranjos; where the initiative was presented this afternoon. Muñoz has remarked, during the meeting, that «it is a good measure to promote one of the most important sports with the greatest tourist attraction in the city.»
She has also ensured that “when making an assessment of what the confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic has meant; if there is an activity that allows you to practice it outdoors with the recommended safety distance and also enjoying an exceptional climate; it is precisely golf ”.
Tourism with a high purchasing power
Likewise, Muñoz has pointed out that “this sector moves a type of tourist with high purchasing power; especially when recovering ”. And she has affirmed that, “in addition, this initiative aims to lower costs at one time –the summer season from June to September–; in those fields that are eminently commercial; and that they understand that an effort and a commitment are necessary to be more competitive and attract players to our town ”.
«This is where this idea was born, which will be made possible by these six golf courses together with the City Council,» said the first mayor. And he added that for that reason; “With the Tourism and Sports areas, work will be carried out to promote a dissemination campaign; fundamentally through social networks and channels in the tourism field; so that clubs in other countries know what is being done in our city ”.
The mayor has explained that initiatives like this are a sample of public-private collaboration; «Above all, in moments when it is necessary to have ideas that are accompanied by good projects, as is this case.»
