One of the most differentiating characteristics of Starlite is its concept of closeness and intimacy between the artists and the public. The festival has a reduced capacity, only 2,200 seats, in order to recreate an atmosphere of proximity. Also, another unique feature of Starlite, on a national level, is that it is the only event that lasts a month.
The emergence of Starlite Festival dates back to the 1980s when Julio Iglesias, Plácido Domingo and Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe came together with the aim of turning the Marbella quarry into a spectacular auditorium, which would become an international benchmark. After three decades, Starlite recovered the essence of that revealing project, to become the meeting place for the best artists on the music scene.
